Our name, Zuniga Health is a tribute to our founder and CEO’s grandfather, Alfonso Zuniga who immigrated to Chicago, Illinois from Guanajuato, Mexico in1925.

Alfonso was an entrepreneur and opened his grocery store, Alfonso Grocery in 1929 near the historic district of The Maxwell Street Market, also called “the Ellis Island of the Midwest.” For the succeeding 30 years, Alfonso Grocery was a thriving grocery and butcher shop that served the multi-cultural community in Chicago.

Our founder and CEO, Arthur Vera, is proud to continue his grandfather’s legacy of serving working families of Illinois and Texas.  Zuniga Health is delivering affordable health benefits to a diverse working population.
